Biography Yamataka, Noboru (1926 - )

Noboru Yamataka was born in Tokyo in 1926. In 1945 he graduated at Meiji University with a literature degree. He became an editor at the Shinchôsha publishing house, where he worked for 37 years. He taught himself woodblock printing and has been exhibiting at CWAJ (College Women's Association of Japan) every year since 1973. In 1976 he had his first solo exhibition, after which he has exhibited extensively.
Interestingly enough he has also become famous for his bookplates: he has designed more than 300, in a variety of styles, adapting his skill to the wishes of his clients. He lives in Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture.
