Biography Yasui, Sôtarô (1888 - 1955)
Yasui Sôtarô was born in Kyoto. He studied with Asai Chû, and in 1907 he went to Paris, where he studied with Jean-Paul Laurens and at the Academie Julian until 1914. At the start of WWI he returned to Japan, where he established a name for himself as one of the leading Western-style painters.
